About Us
Where Culture
Meets Legacy
I'm Donecia — founder, designer, and the one-woman force behind DC Apparel. I'm a double HBCU graduate, earning my B.S. in Supply Chain Management from Tuskegee University in 2014 and my MBA from Prairie View A&M University in December 2018. Both schools shaped who I am, and both show up in everything I create.
DC Apparel started in 2019 with a Cricut machine, a heat press, and a whole lot of love for Tuskegee. I couldn't find what I wanted to wear to represent my HBCU — good quality, real style, at a price that made sense. So I made it myself. What started as a passion project grew into a full brand, and I design every single piece to this day.
Our small but mighty team brings each piece to life right here in Humble, TX. Nothing outsourced, nothing drop-shipped. When you order from DC Apparel, it's made with intention.
"This brand is for every HBCU graduate who knows exactly what their school gave them — and wants to carry that with them everywhere they go."
— Donecia, Founder · DC Apparel · Humble, TX
Our Mission
To give every HBCU family bold, high-quality apparel that represents their school with pride — at a price that doesn't price them out.
Our Values
-
Quality First
Good quality at a fair price. Every piece is designed and produced to last — because your HBCU deserves that.
-
By The Culture
Designed by an HBCU graduate, for the HBCU family. This isn't a brand looking in from the outside — we live this.
-
Made With Intention
Small business, big purpose. Every order is produced in-house in Houston, TX — not outsourced, not rushed.
The Vision
We're just getting started. In the next five years, DC Apparel is building toward becoming the top HBCU athleisure brand in the country — one school, one design, one proud graduate at a time. We currently represent 14+ HBCUs and we're not stopping until every school in the family has a home here.
